Current Every Day Makeup | May 2015

Hello, my lovelies. I thought I would do an updated current make-up post as a lot of my everyday products have changed since my last one!

Skin |

I have recently been trying the ARAD Day moisturiser, which I have been enjoying. It is a thick rich cream and has been great on my dry skin, I picked it up when I was in Homesense the other day, I haven't heard of the brand before so thought I would give it a go.
I have been using an old favourite of mine the Estee Lauder Double Wear, although this foundation isn't great on dry skin, I find if I moisturise well it isn't a problem, I love the coverage of this foundation and the staying power is like no other! For concealer I have been using a mixture of Mac Pro Longwear concealer under my eyes and the famous Collection Lasting perfection on any blemishes. I really like both of these concealers although I do find that the collection creases under my eyes which is why I use Pro Longwear.

Eyes |

On my eyes I have been using both my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette and a few of my Mac eyeshadows. The main colours I have been using from the Urban Decay palette are Limit and Nooner, I like to use these through the crease. The two Mac colours I have been using are Naked Lunch and Woodwinked.
I have been using Eyeko Black Magic Mascara and Maybelline Master Precise felt tip eyeliner. I'm not a massive fan of the Eyeko mascara I feel it doesn't volumise or lengthen my lashes but its OK for eveyday use. Whereas I love the Maybelline Master Precise it is probably one of the best highstreet liners I have used, it is really simple to get a precise line (hence the name).

Eyebrows |

I have been using the lightest colour in the Collection Eyebrow Kit as I have recently gone blonde again, this is a great affordable eyebrow kit, but as with most palettes I chucked the brush that came with it away and I just use my own angled brush to apply. I then finish them by using the Eyeko Brow Gel which I love.

Cheeks |

On my cheeks, I have been using my Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Palette which I recently reviewed (here). Also I have been using the MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter in gold, This is a great highstreet highlighter which is a really pretty colour and is affordable.

L'Oreal Infallible Foundation | Review

Hello my lovelies!

I have been trying the L'Oreal Infallible Foundation for a couple of weeks now so I thought I would do a little review on it!

What L'Oreal say |

"High coverage longwear foundation that hides the appearance of fatigue and blemishes.
Now with Hydrating Hyaluron Comlex the 24HR non-stop formula is touch-proof and stays fresh for lasting comfort."

What I say |

I would say it is a medium coverage, it's definitely not as high coverage as Estee Lauder Double Wear, but it does cover redness and blemishes well. It is quite hydrating which is good as I have quite dry skin. 24 hours is a long time to claim that it can last for...who wears their foundation for 24hours!? I would say this lasted about 5 hours before it needed touching up. I felt like this foundation needed a lot of blending, I tried many different ways of application before i found the best was to use my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, but even with that I felt it needed a lot of blending, as it just seemed to sit on the skin, it took a lot to make it set. I wouldn't say it was "touch proof" as I say it felt like it just sat on top of the skin. It did make my skin look flawless and it felt very light on my skin. The finish is semi-matte with a nice glow, I found it did sink into my pores so tried applying it with a primer which seemed to help. It wore of of my nose and forehead quite quickly, so when I applied the next day I powdered my T-zone which helped considerably. It comes in 8 colours - which are all quite light.  Overall I will wear this as an everyday foundation although I prefer my Rimmel Match Perfection, and I'll continue to wear my Double Wear for special occasions. So I am still to find my high street Holy Grail Foundation! :(

Current Favourite Nail Polishes | 2015

When I was painting my nails the other day I noticed that I kept going for the same four colours, which made me think I should do a post on these 4 gems!

1 | Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint | Almond | £3.99

As you can see two of my favourites are from the Barry M Gelly Hi-shine range. I am obsessed with this formula at the moment. Barry M have such an amazing range of different colours and textures and they are only £3.99 (buy one get one half price at Boots at the moment). These last really well on my nails. I'd say they last around 3 days before they start chipping, which for a high street polish is really good. This colour is a lovely nude-y taupe colour, it takes 2 coats to become opaque and it dries quite quickly with a high shine finish.

2 | Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint | Chai | £3.99

This is the second of my Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paints so the application and finish is as above. This colour is a lovely blue tinted grey shade. I love this colour...to be honest I love anything that's grey at the moment!

3 | NAILS INC | St Anns Lane | Limited edition (giftset)

I have lots of nails inc polishes and I love the quality of them on my nails, they do last for a long time, and are always very opaque. This is a lovely dusky pink colour. The only downside to Nails inc is I find they go gloopy quite quickly compared to other polishes and considering they retail at around £14 each you'd expect them to last longer.

4 | ORLY | Country Club Khaki |£9.50

I don't have a clue where I got this from, I think it must have come in a Birchbox as it is a mini sample. I love this beige colour, it really complements my skin tone. It does take about 3 coats to become completely opaque and does chip quite easily...but I love the colour so will continue to use!

Barry M | Flawless Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit

Hey guys, I was in town the other day picking up a few essentials, whilst in boots I was going to pick up my usual Bourjois bronzing powder, when I saw the Barry M Flawless Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit...I remembered watching LLYMLRS (www.llymlrs.com) talk about it and say it was quite a good contour palette,
so I picked it up. I am always looking for a good highstreet contour colour as they tend to be either too shimmery or too orangey...and as much as I would LOVE the Hourglass Illume Creme-to-powder Bronze Duo I really can't justify £40.00...so at £6.49 this seemed like a safer option!

The packaging is relatively good for such a low price, reinforced cardboard with a magnetic closing. Slim line which makes it perfect for travelling. The only downside of the packaging is instead of a mirror they have instructions on the inside lid, this would have been much better if it had a mirror and maybe the instructions on a piece of card (similar to how Benefit package theirs).

The powders are a decent size for the type of product. They consist of a highlighter, bronzer and a contour powder. They are all matte, although the highlighter has a very slight sheen, which is nice in a highlighter. They are quite a powdery texture but they blend very well, the one thing I would say is the two darker colours are very pigmented, which I love but if you have a very fair skin tone this could be too dark.

Gradual Tanning Cream | Review

Hi guys, I've recently been trying out some gradual self tanners, I used to use them when I was younger and when I saw they were on offer the other week I thought I'd give them a go again.

Johnson's Holiday skin | Fair to medium | £5.25

What they say |

"Gradually builds a beautiful, even tan. Subtle, fresh fragrance. Blended with naturally moisture-rich avocado & starflower extracts"

What I say |

I'm not keen on this one I find that it's a very orangey shade. It has a bare-able scent but not a nice one! It says on the bottle "absorbs easily to avoid staining" I felt like this was quite thick and didn't sink into the skin quick enough, I tend to put tan on before going to bed so want something that sinks in quickly! It says "A beautifully even tan will develop after 3-4 applications" I found the colour showed within 2 applications but it wasn't a "beautifully even tan"....I'd say more of a streaky orange tinted tan! Over all I didn't like this gradual self tanner and won't be using it in the future...unless I decide I want to look like an umpa lumpa!

Dove Summer Glow | Medium to dark | £5.25 (currently £2.62 at boots)

What they say |

"moisturises your skin whilst gradually enhancing your natural skin colour. So now you can have a beautiful summer glow all year round."

What I say |

I am really enjoying this. It has more of an olive-y colour as opposed to the Johnson's orange! It sinks into the skin quickly whilst still being very moisturising. It doesn't go streaky or patchy. It has a fairly nice scent...well as nice as a inexpensive tanner can have! I didn't mean to pick up the medium/dark option but I am kind of glad I did now as I think the light one would have been too light. Over all I love this gradual tanner and have already got a second one for back up!

How I apply |

I use my Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body scrub, mainly focusing on my elbows, knees and ankles. Then every other night before bed I apply the Dove Summer Glow all over rubbing in thoroughly. On the nights that I don't apply the gradual tan I apply Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant, Vaseline say "Heals dry skin to reveal its natural glow" I don't know if this is true but I find it really hydrates my skin and helps to stop the tan from going flaky. It sinks into the skin quickly and makes my skin feel really soft in the morning. Also I love the cocoa scent!
